005, MAKING A DECISION TO BE WEALTHY

We find a large number of blogs on the blogspot and on the Net, dealing with decisions to make money and become wealthy. Many of them contain clues and techniques. Some of them provide even links.

Most of these tend to be didactic (preaching).

WEALTH CREATION

REAL wealth creation is not easy. In today's Capitalist world, mostly we come across with only FAKE wealth creation.

For example, let us take stock exchanges. The registered Companies remain the same. Their performance remains the same. Dividends declared by the remain the same. Suddenly some European or American Government comes up with 0.25 point rise or cut in its interest rate. Immediately, the bourses may show a 20% rise in the indices. Next day, media will crow, Investors rich by 20%. Investors' wealth goes up by 20%. This makes no sense at all.

DECISION ABOUT AMASSING WEALTH

Taking decision about amassing wealth, itself is a difficult decision. Once, if that decision is taken, the person taking it should become like the legendary king Midas, craving for a golden touch. One has to forget great traits of intrinsic worth like diligence, honesty and empathy. One must replace such traits with qualities like make others to work, misrepresentation and fraud, and, apathy and antipathy.

004 Is revenge a more powerful motivator than protection?

Topics for discussion: 004, USA, Osama Bin Laden, Terrorism

The Generals and the Politicians of the United States might not have had even their forty winks of sleep, till they annihilated their bete noir Osama Bin Laden. Laden caused them nightmares for nearly eleven years.

The slaughter Laden Operation was essentially that of revenge. Laden too might have had his own reasons of revenge against the U.S. Government. Yet, he should not have destroyed innocent people.

The Pirates of Somalia have been causing greater damage to the World Marine Transportation. The United States and the NATO Nations have done very little to guard at least the European and the American Vessels passing through the Suez Canal.

Why so much special interest on Osama and so little interest on the menace of the Pirates? The Pirates have been holding the crews of many Nations as hostages, to extort ransom.

001 EDITORIAL LIBERTY IN THE HANDS OF CAPITALIST OWNERS IS A MYTH

The news of Rupert Murdoch buying the WALL STREET JOURNAL and doubts about the journal losing editorial integrity.

ybrao-a-donkey's comments

1. If Murdoch behaves like a real investor of true Capitalistic spirit: He will demand 200% or 500% (any percentage is too inadequate) increase in circulation and profits. Profitability and editorial integrity do not go hand in hand. Only one can be chosen. The idea of a balance between profitability and free press is a myth. The Capitalist realities step in. The entire activity of today's publishing is commercial. Editors whose convictions are malleable in tune with commercial considerations will stay in the industry. Others will leave.

2. If Murdoch has his own ideals and messages which he wants to spread in the world. Then there should first be an integration between the "convictions" of Murdoch and the convictions of the editors. As long as there is harmony between the two, the editorial integrity will be in tact. If there is a conflict, the editors will have to leave. It will be unpleasant for them, but then it is a Capitalist reality. The employees have to conform to the owners' convictions or leave. Expecting business Tycoons and Emperors to have their own messages and missions for spreading all over the world, is Utopian.

Thus, any assurance of continuation of editorial integrity after change of ownership will only be a lullaby.

002, SLAVE POETESS WAS MADE TO PRAISE HER OWNERS

I furnish below a link to the biography of the first African Poetess in English Ms. Phillis Wheately. The biography is very interesting.

www.docsouth.unc.edu/neh/brownhal/brownhal.html. Here is a part of a poem by Ms. Phillis Wheately found at the same site.

"...I, young in life, by seeming cruel fate,
Was snatched from AfricA's fancied happy state.
What pangs excruciating must molest,
What sorrows labor in my parent's breast!
Steeled was that soul, and by no misery moved,
That from a father seized his babe beloved."

Ms. Phillis Wheately was an African slave girl brought from Africa in a slave ship. Her surname is borrowed from her owners'.

This poem was of the period around 1776, the American War of Independence. At the site you can find that she addressed a poem to George Washington, the first President of US and his reply.

I do not wish to say that Ms. Phillis Wheately was totally free to express herself fully and frankly. She was expected to praise her owners, the religion of her owners. Nevertheless, something is better than nothing.

I welcome your comments.

003 WHO SAID THAT IMPERIALISM DISAPPEARED?

Five countries US, Canada, Russia, Norway and Denmark are fighting for sharing the North Pole. Russian claim is based on Siberia's link to N. Pole through Continental Shelf. Denmark controls it through the Greenland. The Canadian PM says that it is not the 15th Century.

BLOGGER'S VIEWS

Funniest part is all the five countries have substantial chunks of uninhabitated land. Every country has vast area with abundant mineral wealth.

They have not exploited much of it.

Yet, why they are thirsting to swallow more land? Who said that Imperialism and the geographical expansionism disappeared in the thin air?
